What a week!

Our Church hosted VBS this week, and I was the director. This was the first time I've directed a VBS and it was a learning experience for me. We did Group's Rome: Paul and the Underground Church. I highly recommend it. It was the most biblically based curriculum we found. The music was upbeat, the teaching was hands on, and the children and adults really seemed to enjoy themselves.
Our sanctuary became a Roman Coliseum, our Fellowship Hall became an exotic Marketplace, a small classroom became a Cave for the underground church to meet. Paul was Jailed in our Prayer Garden and we had an Animal Sacrifice Sales Booth on Thursday. Our Church went all out for this and it was AWESOME!!
I have to brag on our church for a minute. This was way outside of the norm for them. The curriculum was very different, and the classes were age integrated. They were really unsure about what Larry and I were leading them into. By the end of the week they loved it. I feel like this was a great learning experience for Larry and I, as well as the adults at Reddicks Grove. All this hard work helped grow us together, build trust and continue to grow friendships.
We averaged around 100 each night. Only God knows how many seeds we planted, watered, and when He will reap the harvest from the work done this week. I am so happy to have been a part of this. Now I'm looking forward to a few days of rest!
I also need to say a great big Thank You to Larry's Mom and Dad. They came to help with Eden and Josiah. I would not have been able to do this week without their help. I love you both and am so grateful for all that you did!
A secret message

My favorite Roman soldier :)
Dramas took place each night while the children were in the Marketplace and at Rec

We set up a Roman Coliseum in the Sanctuary.
So Awesome!

We had an Animal Sacrifice Sales Night on Thursday.
The children were taught how animals were sacrificed to pay for our sins. Thankfully, Jesus paid for all our sins. Now we can have animals as pets instead of payment.

Paul and his guards.
Paul shared each night from jail. He told stories of his life and love for Jesus.
The children sat amazed each night at Paul's teaching!
This was one of the best aspect of Rome.

Hair-cut by Yaya

One of the great thing about Yaya visiting is all the skills she brings with her. Monday we put up about 150 ears of corn. Yesterday, we put up 8 quarts of green beans. This morning she gave Eden a hair cut. Who knows what the rest of the week will bring!!! We're super excited that Yaya has come for a visit :)

How do you keep a 2 year old seated for a haircut? You give her a sucker!

Not sure what this is all about, but I like the sucker.
OK... not liking this so much!!!

I can't lick the sucker if you keep my head still!!!

This is better, but I don't like the fuzzy stuff on my Popsicle

I think I'm done, but I have just been given a short reprieve. We're going to finish the cut after pool time. We need her hair wet for the back to be cut.

Drool Baby

Josiah is a drool monger lately. He is so happy all the time. He's slept through the night (again) for the last few nights, which makes Momma happy! I think he's going through another growth spurt.
He wighed in at 18lbs. 11 oz 2 weeks ago. I'm thinking he's close to 20 lbs now!

Dress up

Abbey gave Eden some great costumes for her birthday. This morning she gave us a show in her high heels and apron.

All Smiles

Josiah continue to be a great source of joy and laughter. He's a big boy. Last week, he weighed in at 18lbs 11oz! He's such a sweet baby. To match his bright red hair, he has the most beautiful blue eyes. He's going to be a chick magnet when he grows up.

Come Push Me

Eden loves to swing, but hasn't figured out how to pump her legs to swing herself yet. I'm sure as soon as she learns, she'll soar!
(she was actually swinging while I took this photo, I love my 50mm lens :)
